PhilaSoup is hosting their annual school year kick-off. The organization provides micro-grants to teachers with innovative ideas for classroom projects that will enhance student learning. By supporting PhilaSoup, you can help the classroom come to life for kids across Philadelphia. Join educators and supporters for drinks, brewery tours, awesome food truck treats and a killer raffle. The first 50 guests will get a drink ticket for the Yards beer of their choice.

Tickets are $15 and on sale here; tickets will be available at the door for $20. Your ticket purchase includes a raffle ticket, as well as an opportunity to take a free tour of the brewery. If you can't make it that night, please consider donating a few dollars to the cause via the ticket sale page link above.

Under a Crescent Moon: Summer Open House

Ever want to dine with the dead? Laurel Hill Cemetery is holding its first Summer Open House where visitors can have a BYO picnic, explore the gravestones and view the special illuminated display for veterans buried at Laurel Hill. The display honors over 1,400 men and women who served our nation. A general tour will detail some of the veterans, who range in service from the Revolutionary War to Desert Storm. Each will have a candle lit by their graves, allowing visitors to give thanks to those individuals. 
The event has a pre-scheduled rain date of August 30. There is free parking and check-in will be located at Laurel Hill's gateway. You can purchase tickets here.

Butterfly Festival

See beautiful Monarch butterflies before they migrate south to Mexico! Tyler Arboretum’s Butterfly House will soon be tagging and releasing its collection of Monarchs. Experts will be on hand doing a variety of demonstrations and answering visitors' questions. The festival will also feature a craft station, games and amazing bugs brought by John the Bug Man Insect Educators. The event sponsor, Redbud Native Plant Nursery, will also have a display of plants that attract butterflies.

Pizza will be available for purchase from Pizza Wagon and visitors may also pack lunches, so don’t worry about going hungry. The event will happen rain or shine.
