After the stress of the holidays, it's time to get back in touch with your soul. Head to Red Hot & Blue in Cherry Hill to listen to the blues as performed by Russell Gulley and April Mae & The June Bugs. Gulley hails from the famed Muscle Shoals in Alabama, which recently claimed its page in music's history book with the release of the Independent Lens documentary Muscle Shoals
The evening will have two shows, the first at 8 p.m.; the second at 10 p.m. For more information, click here.

Family Workshop: Upcycled City
Saturday, January 10
1 - 2:30 p.m.
Philadelphia Center for Architecture, 1218 Arch Street
$15 - $20

If your little ones are into building, check out the Philadelphia Center for Architecture's latest workshop, perfect for children in grades 2 through 6! Children will learn how architects reuse building materials and then have a chance to create their own building from everyday household items. The workshop will be led by Kate and Jacob Shoemaker of Ballinger Architects.
The workshop is limited to 24 children, so be sure to register early. Registration includes one free adult admission. If you have little ones under six, they can enjoy unstructured build time at the hands-on maker stations.

Beginner Tango Class
Friday, January 9
7 - 8 p.m.
2030 Frankford Ave.
Free

Break up your First Friday routine with a free beginner tango class hosted by the Philadelphia Argentine Tango School. (Technically, January's First Friday is the second Friday of the month due to the holidays.) After strolling through Fishtown's local galleries and businesses, grab some friends and head to the studio. The class rotates partners after each song, so no need to stress about finding a mate!

The school requests that attendees bring smooth-soled shoes to change into (so you're not wearing street shoes on the dance floor). For more information, click here or contact Meredith at (617) 291-3798.
