This is just one of the many events that will commemorate the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. At 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. on all three days, professional actors will read excerpts from King's "Letter from Birmingham Jail" (1963). The readings will be followed by a Q&A moderated by a civil rights scholar. For the younger ones, children aged 7 through 12 can create artwork in response to the themes of King's letter. 

Admission is free to all MLK events; tours of Eastern State are subject to standard admission rates. For more information, click here.

Fireside Sessions with WXPN's The Key

Once a month, WXPN and The Key team up to present a night of local music at the Blue Cross RiverRink Festival. January's fireside session will feature Son Little and Dirty Dollhouse. The event is free and great for all ages! Be sure to put the last one on your calendar as well: the February 21 will event will feature Bielle and Paper Hearts

Bring the whole family out to Ardmore Music Hall to check out the craft fair and flea market! There will be fun activities for kids and downstairs will feature brunch plus a bar with a musical performance by Butchy Sochorow of Splintered Sunlight.

The Mt. Airy Art Garage will be hosting the artwork of local photographers, including Denise Allen, Poppy Rae Bass, Kevin Bennett, Bill Brookover, Frank Burd. William B. Hanson, Elfie Harris, James Hay, Dan Ravasio, Robert Silverman, Patricia Cousins Smith, Nicki Toizer, Joe Vescovich, Andrew Walker and Sheppard Williams. The aim of their collective work was to capture the heartbeat of Philadelphia through a lens. Their focus varies, with people, landscape and architecture viewed through a variety of formats including color, black & white, 35mm, digital and more.
