215 Festival

Monster Mash-Up

215 Festival
Thursday, October 23 - Sunday, October 26

The 215 Festival is back in all of its literary goodness for 2014! Running for four days, the event will feature all sorts of bookish fun from readings to performances to writing clinics and, of course, the Bibliodiscotheque. This year, the festival has joined forces with the South Street Headhouse District and South Street shops, bars, and restaurants to create a unique experience and keep with its mission of celebrating the written, spoken and visualized word. The festival will also host curated events from some of Philly's literary powerhouses such as Apiary Magazine, The Head & The Hand Press, The American Poetry Review, Barrelhouse and more.

The festival kicks off Thursday night with a special reading by poet laureate Frank Sherlock. For more information, click here

Monster Mash-Up
Thursday, October 30
8 - 11 p.m.
Painted Bride Art Center, 230 Vine Street
$15

Nobody does Halloween quite like the Bride. This year, just wait until you see the toil and trouble they've got planned! Taking the stage will be the high energy electronic experience of Worldtown Sound System and rock band Cask & Co. Costumes are strongly encouraged -- it is mischief night after all.
Done in partnership with Small But Mighty Arts and Witty Gritty. Click here for more information.

Tricks & Treats at the Manor
Sunday, October 26
1 - 4 p.m.
Pennsbury Manor, 400 Pennsbury Memorial Road, Morrisville, PA
Free

Spend a hands-on day at Pennsbury Manor, a reconstruction of William Penn's house on the Delaware River, making apple cider, trick-or-treating and playing games. Experience the witch trial of Margaret Mattson, who was accused in 1684 of witchcraft by her neighbors. The trial was presided over by William Penn, but we won't give away any more details!
