Transformations: Artist Talk & Opening Reception
Friday, March 11
5:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Main Line Art Center, 746 Panmure Rd., Haverford
Free

Transformations, the 12th annual Betsy Meyer Memorial Exhibition, will feature the 2016 Meyer Family Award for Contemporary Art recipients Matthew Courtney (Philadelphia), Sun Young Kang (Bryn Mawr) and Zahra Nazari (New York). Masters of their primary mediums and inspired by cultural specificity, each artist expands their artistic practice to embrace installation with works that fully engage the audience in constructed objects, the spaces they inhabit and the concepts they conjure. Through painting, ceramic sculpture and paper arts, these artists transform not only their own materials but the galleries themselves into unexpected environments that dance between the evident and the ethereal.

Lilt Opening Reception
Saturday, March 12
4 - 8 p.m.
20*20 House, 20 Lansdowne Ct., Lansdowne

Join the Lansdowne Arts Board in celebrating its second exhibit in a multi-year series of juried solo shows. This exhibition will showcase the work of contemporary visual artist Jacque Liu who was born in Taiwan and currently resides in Philly. Liu's recent work, Lilt, utilizes wooden shelves with acrylic sheets to create shapes found in urban environments. For Liu, understanding a place is about "everyday architectural elements, often focusing on windows, doors, vents, staircases, chairs and abandoned houses in the vastness of a cityscape." The opening reception will feature an artist talk with Liu. The exhibition will be open Saturdays and Sundays, noon - 4 p.m., until May.
