Filadelfia Latin American Film Festival (FLAFF) is the first and only annual film festival in the region to focus exclusively on the exhibition of Latin American and Latino artists. Join FLAFF this weekend for a lineup of special events, lectures and screenings. Programs showcase the extraordinary and innovative work of filmmakers from all genres: short film, narrative, documentary, animation and feature films.

From Tracks to Parks: The Next Generation of Urban Green

Next City and the Academy of Natural Sciences invite you to hear from the visionaries transforming the industrial relics of our past into urban parks of the future. Inspired by New York's High Line, cities across the U.S. are adapting aging rail infrastructure into linear parks and recreation paths. 

A moderated panel -- featuring representatives from Chicago's Bloomingdale Trail, New York's High Line, Philadelphia's Reading Viaduct and City Branch, and St. Louis' Trestle -- will examine how these projects are changing urban landscapes.

The UArts Direct Dialogue Series continues Thursday with "Funding for Artists." Presented by the Center for Emerging Visual ArtistsFlying Kite Media and Small But Mighty Arts Grant, this event will feature an expert panel offering advice for individuals and organizations seeking to sustain their artistic practice. The conversation will explore micro-funding, fiscal sponsorship and other funding resources.

Panelist include Eleanor Whitney, program officer for the New York Foundation of the Arts; Lindsay Tucker So, manager of fiscal sponsorship at CultureWorks of Greater Philadelphia; and Erica Hawthorne, founder and managing director of Small But Mighty Arts Grant  .

Spend the afternoon experiencing Philadelphia's rich culinary heritage at the 2013 Festival of Forgotten Foods. Try dishes that were once mainstays in the region but have since fallen out of favor, including snapper soup, oyster stew, fried catfish and waffles, teaberry ice cream, and many more. Visit shop owners and hear their stories of hard-to-find Philly favorites.
