The Philly Roller Girls roller derby squad founded the East Coast Derby Extravaganza (ECDX) in 2007 as a full weekend of large-scale women's flat track roller derby showcase. The fifth annual event was held over the weekend at the Sportsplex in Feasterville, where 1,000 skaters from 90-plus leagues participated in nearly 50 bouts on three rinks.

The weekend included full-length sanctioned bouts between all-star teams of Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) member leagues, as well as challenge bouts between non-WFTDA travel teams.
