It was Jane Lipton's third day on the job last year as executive director of the Manayunk Development Corporation when the organization helped put on the small, eco-minded Homegrown Festival on a side street. To Lipton, it was immediately apparent that the festival could be a lot more, especially in Manayunk, where street festivals have been going down for years.

This year, there was nothing small about the inaugural Manayunk EcoArts Festival, an annual event intended to celebrate the artistic, sustinable and local green initiatives of eco-minded artists, green businesses and environmental advocates. Despite significant rain, the two-day festival was a success and already is building buzz for next year.
