What better way to cool off on a hot summer evening than with live jazz? This Wednesday (and select Wednesdays in August), Cliveden presents Sol Unlimited Jazz & Arts. The summer concert series is set on the sprawling lawn of the historic Cliveden estate in Germantown.

This week's program will feature the Sol Unlimited Orchestra featuring Serena Sol Brown, the William Douglas Orchestra and Choir, the William Douglas Gospel Jazz Quartet, Brett Jolly, Charisa "The Violindiva" and Krissy Mosley of Mother Bethel AME. Radio personality Jerry Wells will host. There will also be food vendors and local artists peddling jewelry, art and crafts.

Built just before the Revolutionary War, Cliveden is a member of Historic Germantown, a partnership of 15 extraordinary Philadelphia houses, destinations and museums. For more information, visit their Facebook page.

9 a.m. - 9 p.m
Eakins Oval, 2601 Benjamin Franklin Parkway
Free

Located in the shadows of the Philadelphia Art Museum, Eakins Oval is reimagined this summer as an open-air public space dubbed "The Oval." This project transforms the island of asphalt and surrounding lawns at 24th Street and the Parkway into an eight-acre public space devoted to summertime fun, complete with daily educational programming, tons of free live entertainment, a daily lineup of food trucks and a weekly beer garden.

Permanent features include tables and chairs, brightly colored sails and, yes, public restrooms. Enjoy Adirondack chairs, twinkly lights and colorful vinyl globes, volleyball, badminton, a nine-hole mini-golf course, sand boxes and oversized board games (like chess!). Plus ping-pong tables and Corn Hole.
