PHILLY 3 FOR ALL: Family Feud Stories, Waltzes and Treecycling

First Person Arts StorySlam: Family Feud
Tues., Dec. 27, 8:30 p.m.
L'Etage (6th and Bainbridge Sts., Philadelphia)
$10 admission ($8 for First Person Arts members)

Holiday travels and occasions inspire new material for the talented storytellers competing for StorySlam supremacy. The chance to compete in one of two Grand Slams, and possibly Best Storyteller in Philadelphia, is on the line.

New Year's Eve with the Philadelphia Orchestra
Dec. 31, 7:30 p.m.
The Kimmel Center (300 S. Broad St., Philadelphia)
$39-$149

Conducted by Sarah Hicks and featuring an impressive lineup of dancers and vocalists, the Philadelphia Orchestra's New Year's performance promises classic waltzes, from Strauss to Rodgers to Porter. The music of old Vienna is timeless, but will get over in time for you to hit any number of NYE shindigs.

Treecycling
Saturday, Jan. 7
10 a.m.-4 p.m. Columbus Square ($5, 13th and Reed Sts., Philadelphia) and Whole Foods Market ($3 wreath/$5 tree, 929 South St., Philadelphia); 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Weccacoe Playground (400 block Catharine St.)

You know your Christmas tree shouldn't go in a landfill. Instead, bring it here and have your tree turned into wood chips and mulch to be used in local parks and gardens. All decorations must be removed and no early drop-offs. The City of Philadelphia DOES NOT recycle trees left at the curb. You can request curbside pickup for a fee by emailing Greenlimbs.
