A  Matter of Softness
Wednesday, August 26 - Wednesday, September 23
9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Esther Klein Gallery, 3600 Market Street
Free

Juan M. Castro, a Japan-based artist and researcher, focuses his most recent solo exhibition on the possible synthesis of new forms of life and spontaneous transformation of fat into organic microstructures. The works presented in A Matter of Softness were conceived as extensions of Castro's wider research on lipid membranes as primordial microenvironments. Many believe such primordial microenvironments enabled the emergence of cellular life.

The opening reception will be held at the gallery on Wednesday, August 26 from 5 - 7:30 p.m. and include a live demonstration by Castro.
